Listi yfir þýðingar á heitum stofnana (opinberra og alþjóðlegra) og fyrirtækja, opinberum titlum og
lögvernduðum starfsheitum var unninn upp úr ýmsum gögnum með handyfirferð: skrá yfir þýðingar á stofnana-
og fyrirtækjaheitum frá 1989 útgefinni af Hagstofunni, heimasíðu stjórnarráðsins,
þýðingasafni utanríkisráðuneytisins, heimasíðum sveitastjórna, fyrirtækjaskrá, lista Evrópusambandsins
yfir lögvernduð starfsheiti og öðrum minni listum.
Listinn inniheldur eftirfarandi dálka í þessari röð: íslenskt heiti; önnur íslensk heiti; íslensk skammstöfun;
eldri íslensk skammstöfun; erlent tungumál; erlent heiti; önnur erlend heiti; erlend skammstöfun; eldri
erlend skammstöfun; heimild. Í þeim tilfellum þar sem reitur inniheldur fleiri en eitt gildi eru gildin aðskilin með
tveimur tvípunktum (::).

Translations of institutions (domestic and international), companies, titles
(governmental and registered job-titles) was gathered by manually revising various sources. These include
a register of institutional and company translations published by Statistics Iceland in 1989,
the official domains of the Icelandic government, Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Icelandic municipalities,
an official company register and other smaller sources.
The list contains the following columns in this order: Icelandic value; other Icelandic values; Icelandic
abbreviation; older Icelandic abbreviation; translation language; translation; other translation(s); translated
abbreviation; older translated abbreviation; source. Where a cell contains more than one value, the values are 
seperated with two colons (::).
