 Description

The DMII Core contains the core vocabulary of current Icelandic, i.e., common non-domain specific words, and a selection of named Icelandic entities, i.e., personal names, common place names, and a few names of important institutions. The sources of the vocabulary are The Dictionary of Modern Icelandic (Íslensk nútímamálsorðabók), containing approximately 50,000 headwords, with additions from The Gigaword Corpus (Risamálheildin 2017), i.e., the top 50,000 most frequent words (lemmas). The overlap is great, and the vocabulary of the DMII Core contains ca. 58,000 words (September 2019). The DMII Core is created to be used for third party publication. It is accessible through a RESTful API, open for everyone. The API allows users to send simple queries and receive full paradigms in JSON-format as a response.
